What is it?

If, during the course of your work, leisure or normal day to day activities, you find yourself in a vulnerable or emergency situation and you are unable to raise the alarm because you are incapacitated or have no mobile phone coverage, the WatchOverU™ personal safety service can help you by automatically contacting your friends, family or colleagues, when things don't go to plan, and delivering contact details and a message giving details of your activity and location.

How will it help you?

This service can provide a degree of backup for people of all ages involved in all sorts of activities where they are in remote areas, on their own or subject to greater risks whilst working, travelling or involved in leisure or sporting activities. There are many scenarios, involving a higher degree of risk, that result in people finding themselves in vulnerable situations with nobody else aware of their problem.

You could of course notify your friends, family and colleagues in advance of your planned activities but this is likely to cause them to worry about you. Using the WatchOverU™ service avoids this situation and, provided you check-in as planned, your friends, family and colleagues are not involved.

How does it work?

To use this service, you need to set up a profile. This can be done via your phone or online via the web site. You then call 03333403301 and follow the prompts to set up a WatchOverU™ Event on the system. You specify the date & time by which you expect to have called back in and closed the Event and you can request a reminder call. You also record a personal message, giving details of your activity and location, so this can be delivered, along with your contact details, to 3 separate people should things not go to plan and you are unable to check-in before the deadline. If you fail to check-in, or if you call the emergency number 03333403399, the service initiates calls to the 3 specified phone numbers to deliver the personal message recorded earlier and give contact details to the person answering the call. They are also asked to acknowledge receipt of the information. If you don't check-in, message forwarding is initiated automatically without the need for your involvement or any mobile phone coverage or device functionality.
